The Whole You

What does that mean exactly? Loving myself? Hmmm, is that important to me?

Yes, it is very important, it’s an integral part of the hero’s journey! You can only love someone else to the extent you love—truly love--yourself. When you think about yourself, do you measure up to the “standards” of success that you believe to be important? Do you actually enjoy your time alone or do you fill every waking moment with activities to avoid being in your own company?

The “Whole You” means you are confronting any obstacles you may have to loving everything about you. You’re doing the work of loving and forgiving yourself for all those things you always felt held you back from being your best self. You’re showing courage in looking at the secrets–yes, even the shameful ones! You’re healing the wounds and residual scars that impact how you feel about yourself. You’re addressing all those careless comments that have enough “sting” to change how you see yourself and your ability to succeed in the world. You’re determining what is right for you rather than seeking the approval of others. You’re living in the moment, knowing that where you are NOW is exactly where you are supposed to be.

So you see the Whole You is the total of your spiritual, mental, emotional and physical self. You’re balanced and whole in all four of these areas, rather than concentrating on only one area or another. You’re creating a life that is supported by spiritual foundations, mental acuity, emotional health and physical stamina. All the parts of you are working together for your ultimate success.

Qualities one would use to describe you include the fruits of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

The Whole You has mastered who you are, what is important according to your own scale, and you share that on a regular basis with the people who are in relationship with you. Loving yourself is so natural that it permeates every action and interaction you have with others. Love returns to you from everyone you encounter and it is noticeable wherever you go.

Being whole naturally reminds us of our Oneness with God. We see God in every person we meet. We’re no longer fragments. We are One. We are Whole.
